Description
This arrangement of a festive folk song celebrating the Chinese New Year (Cai Shen Dao – Here Comes the God of Fortune) was commissioned by the Taipei Jazz Orchestra in 2020. It starts with a Mintzer-esque straight-8th groove, breaks into a mambo with solo for 1st tenor, and switches to the opening groove for a 2nd trumpet solo and ensemble build before the recap. Flutes are used for backgrounds only and could be omitted if needed.
