Concerto Peligroso is a virtuoso concerto for piano and jazz band in which, the rhythm section holds back its customary role until late in the piece.
Excitement builds as “unaccompanied” 12 measure exchanges between the piano soloist and the band continue until the rhythm section enters swinging near the end. This is a difficult but spectacular piece. (Flute double on the alto chair.)
