Description

While on a vacation, I visited a Native American settlement and came upon a clearing called “gathering circle” where villagers would come together to discuss issues affecting the village. It seemed like a good title for a piece about coming together as a community. The chart begins with the horn call signaling the villagers to assemble and evolves as they gradually walk to the “circle” and interact toward a resolution. Solos feature soprano sax, guitar (trumpet can be a substitute), and drums.
