This recording is the first of 30 LPs and CDs that were to be released over the next 26 years. Also, this recording will be the final one of the many LPs that have been re-issued and re-released on CD over the past several years. All the Alive (Jazz Lab Band I) and most of the Hot (UNC Vocal Jazz Ensembles) LPs and CDs were recorded live in concert. Most of the LPs were recorded using two overhead microphones and one or two solo microphones with a 4-channel mixer connected to a 2-track recorder. And no, overdubs were not an option!
