Written as a prayer for the environment, the haunting, brooding opening morphs into a grinding Delta blues solo section before powerfully and dramatically returning to the opening dirge for its climax. Recorded by the Jazz Surge on “Within Us” the optional violin (cued for Fluegelhorn) is prominently featured on a non-improvising, but highly emotional part with opportunities for a trombone and guitar soloist to let it all hang out!! This one is a gut-wrencher with audiences on the edge of their seats throughout.
