Back to the Fuchsia is a very deliberate exploration of traditional Brazillian-jazz styles, including the typical rhythmic gestures and textures found in classic works. But it also includes some playful interaction between the bass instruments and the rest of the ensemble with figures associated with more modern styles. Trombone, baritone, or rhythm section instruments can play the first, shorter solo section, while the trumpet 2 is featured in a more extended solo with elaborate backgrounds.
