Ballade is french spelling for ballad. This piece is something as unusual as a minimalist jazz ballad. A beautiful theme is played in canon by trombone 1 and tenor 1 with trombone lead. Piano, guitar and woodwinds have important roles in the accompaniment. An extensive tenor 1 solo is followed by a reversed recap by the two lead instruments and is ended very softly by the piano. Beautiful and sensitive music with a possibility for your lead trombonist and first tenor to shine.
