Description
Originally written for and played by the U.S. Army Jazz Knights, Calor Del Desierto (Desert Colors) is an exciting Latin salsa chart arranged and edited to be performed by high school and college jazz bands. Title is inspired by travel across the Mojave Desert by car from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Quarter note equal to 180 to 190 beats per minute. It is in the key of Bb, but the tune has some interesting twists into other key centers! There is an open section for solos with only chord symbols given. The 2nd trumpet, 2nd trombone, 1st alto saxophone, and 1st tenor saxophone have chord changes given for solos in those parts.
Instrumentation
Standard Big Band (5/4/4/4)
Additional Info
