Description
Inspired by Cedar Walton’s “Bolivia,” “Don’t Shoot The Messenger” has alternating modal Latin, and swing chord change sections. Solos for tenor sax, trumpet and trombone, with an open solo section for drums and/or percussion. Counterpoint and a roaring double shout make this challenging and fun for both the band and the audience. Recorded on Geoff Stradling and the StradBand’s “Nimble Digits” album.
