Description
“El Vino” is the opening track of the highly acclaimed Origin Records 2015 “Time Within Itself” big band release by the Michael Waldrop Big Band. The tune is co-written by Michael Waldrop and Jack Cooper, fully orchestrated out for big band by Cooper. El Vino is a reference and tribute to the legendary drummer Elvin Jones. It’s a modern modal, extended 20 measure blues that swings hard at a medium, ‘walking’ tempo. Changes written for multiple soloists; drummer also featured!
