Trumpet: C#6, Trombone: Bb4
This medium-up tempo is the chart you’ve been waiting for the challenge your jazz ensemble. The ranges of the brass are excellent while the saxophone lines are very challenging, but very much fun to learn.
Standard Big Band (5/4/4/4)
The recording of Groove Blues for you to listen to is by the Louis Bellson Octet as a Big Band version of this tune was never recorded. However, this recording is very similar to the big band version, although not exactly the same. The recording will give a very good idea of the style of the music, the tempo, and the articulation. Plus, you’ll be able to listen to outstanding soloists! A great chart to play! A 4-line score (not a full score) is included which has Alto 1, Trumpet 1, Trombone 1, and the changes in the rhythm section. Many composers/arrangers in past years didn’t write full scores, they wrote out the parts from memory.
An Optional Soprano/Clarinet part.
