Description

Commissioned by the Rena Jazz Orchestra.  This Latin Funk version of the Christmas favourite features two vocal soloists backed by a gospel choir.  The Vocal soloists have opportunities to ad lib as the choir gets down.  Very effective, with a big ending, this chart provides a great opportunity for the choir to join the big band in performance at a Christmas concert.

Instrumentation

Big Band (5/4/4/4) with female and male vocals and choir.

Additional Info

Optional 5th Trumpet.  Lead Vocals are Tenor (range D3-Eb4) and Alto (range: G3(Eb3)-Bb4).  Best if vocal soloists are able to do a little improvising to fill up the spaces.  Recommend electric bass for the funky bass line.
