Description

As recorded on the album New Juju by Christopher Merz and Shorter Stories. This straight-forward septet treatment opens with collective cadenzas taking the place of the original piano flourishes. After a brief rhythm vamp, the melody enters in octaves, opening into 4-part Blue Note-era voicing (guitar is voiced as the third part, between alto and trombone). The second head features a tasteful countermelody. Space for any soloist. The drummer is featured in the coda.
