Trumpet: F6, Trombone: B4
This composition was inspired by a Claude Monet painting. The entire scene was painted in shades of green, which was quite unusual for this Impressionist master of color.
Standard Big Band (5/4/4/4) + Soloist
From the beginning up to B the rhythmic context is rubato. Conducting is necessary because of the staggered entrances. Once steady time starts at C the chart plays itself to the coda. F to G is the solo section, utilizing Liebman’s chromatic and harmonic language. It can be opened for multiple solos over the 11-bar form. The last soloist continues to H.
