Description

Commissioned in 2013 and recorded by the award winning Upland High School Jazz Ensemble (Upland CA). The work was featured at the Reno and Monterey Jazz Festivals; also featured on tour by the New Zealand Youth Jazz Orchestra. Written as a fun blues chart with a cappella, open sax improv at the top. Open blues choruses for multiple soloists. The compositional approach is very reminiscent of writing done for the Woody Herman or Terry Gibbs big bands: THIS ONE SWINGS!
