Three Fingered Jack, the mountain, is a craggy, snow-covered peak in Central Oregon, difficult to summit, but well worth the effort. Three Fingered Jack, the chart, is a cranky, polychord-laden minimalist-inspired composition featuring electric bass (5 string preferred) as the primary melodic voice, difficult to master, challenging for improvisers, but worth the effort as well. Though brass ranges are relatively modest, this one requires a top-notch rhythm section to pull off.
