Description

Tricky triplet rhythms abound in this blues with a bridge set over a shuffle feel. Commissioned by UNI audio engineer Tom Barry to feature himself with his two nephews (the three Barrys), alto 1 and trumpet 5 solo over traditional Bb Blues changes. An interlude over the bridge changes switches up the groove to an Afro-Cuban feel, which is retained for the tenor 1 solo, which returns to the Bb blues, but adding minor third substitutions in the turnaround. A sneaky ensemble passage captures the Henry Mancini sound before intensifying to the climax. Fun material for each member of the band.
