Description
Originally released on the Origin Records 2018 release ‘Origin Suite’, this is a full big band version of ‘Vasconcelos’ written for and specially premiered at the 2019 Jazz Education Network Conference in Reno, NV. Michael Waldrop dedicated his beautiful Afro-Brazilian work to Naná Vasconcelos, the brilliant percussion artist from Recife, Brazil. Cooper’s subtle orchestration brings it all to life with the band using flutes and flugelhorns, inside the full big band. Changes written for multiple soloists; percussion and rhythm section are featured in this chart.

Flute 2 has solo chord changes. Flugelhorn 4 has solo chord changes and Trombone 2 has solo chord changes. Flexible open solo sections can allow guitar, piano, bass and drum/percussion solos also.
